Applications
This video shows application of TissuePatchDural, precut to size. Note how after only 30 second application time the patch has formed a seal on the cranial Dura with excellent conformability to surface contours.
New TissuePatchDural addresses surgeons’ expressed need for a safe, effective solution to the challenge of preventing Cerebrospinal Fluid leaks following Neurosurgery. TissuePatchDural is a thin (40micron) multilaminate, self-adhesive, sealant and barrier film that requires no advance preparation and is bonded to the tissue surface in 30 seconds.
TissuePatchDural represents the culmination of 6 years development by Tissuemed’s polymer scientists and is purpose-designed to provide patient, surgeon and hospital benefits:
- Self-adhesive patch that forms a blood/fluid tight seal.
- Strong adhesion with cross-linking in situ. Uniform spread of tension.
- Flexible/elastic so can be applied to non-uniform surfaces.
- No guns, no cartridges, no preparation required.
- Bonds to surgical site in <30 seconds. “Open and apply”.
- Fully synthetic, containing no human, bovine or porcine material.
- Supports natural healing process and resorbs in about 50 days.
- Available in various sizes and shapes.
- Transparent film allows post-application wound visualisation.
- Potential to improve clinical economics by shortening hospital stay.
- CE marked for use as a dural sealant.
TissuePatch Dural is indicated for use to seal and reinforce against CSF leakage in neurosurgery. TissuePatch Dural is intended for use as an adjunct in neurosurgery. It is not intended to replace sutures, staples or clips, as appropriate, in tissue approximation. Furthermore it is not intended to be used as a Dura Mater substitute.
